Valencia (EFE).- The former president of Valencia CF Pedro Cortés has denied this Thursday, in a trial held in the Criminal Court number 3 of Valencia, having touched the private parts of an underage footballer, belonging to the quarry of the club, while taking him in his car.
As explained by the lawyer for the popular prosecution, because the trial was held behind closed doors at the request of all parties, Cortés has admitted being the author of some text messages sent to the minor, but has denied the touching.
This lawyer, who claims for the former president a sentence of two and a half years in prison, nevertheless understands that there is sufficient proof against him to obtain a conviction and that, despite the fact that Cortés denies the facts, “there is peripheral evidence that corroborates the testimony of the minor.
On the contrary, the lawyer for the former president of Valencia CF has explained to journalists that neither the Prosecutor’s Office nor the private prosecution have modified an accusation based on articles 182.1 and 192.1 of the Penal Code, which have recently been modified by what is known as the law of only yes is yes.
And he recalled that “a few months ago the Madrid Court acquitted a previously convicted professor” for similar events.
Pedro Cortés, for his part, has not made statements beyond stating that he felt “very calm.”
The former president of Valencia denied the accusation from the beginning
Cortés has been prosecuted since October 2021 by the Court of First Instance number 1 of Paterna (Valencia) for this alleged crime, denounced in November 2020 although the investigation did not come to light until January 2021. That same day, the former president of the Valencia CF between 1997 and 2001 denied the accusation through a statement issued by its lawyer.
Also that day, Cortés submitted his resignation to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) from his position as delegate of the senior national team.
The Valencia Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has requested a two-year prison sentence for the former president of Valencia CF. In her qualification brief before the Court, the prosecutor explained that the minor signed a representation contract with the agency of a relative of Cortés, which “facilitated the defendant to have regular contact with the minor,” which, in turn, gave rise to a “relationship of trust”.
According to this writing, in November 2020, Cortés invited the young player, who was 16 years old at the time, to eat with his family in a restaurant in Valencia and during the meal he whispered in his ear: “I’m going to eat you whole.”
Later, Cortés transferred the minor to the sports city of Paterna, where he lived, and “guided by his libidinous spirit, he placed his right hand on the minor’s left thigh, beginning to massage him in a circular motion, moving the defendant’s hand to the genital area.” .
According to the Prosecutor’s account, the minor removed Cortés’s hand, who told him at that moment that “there is only one life and you have to enjoy it.” The minor’s parents reported the facts after being aware of them.
