Washington (EFE).- At least 3 people have died and five have been injured in a shooting at a university in Michigan (USA) on Monday night.
As reported by local authorities, the alleged perpetrator was located outside the university campus and died from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
In a press conference, the sheriff in charge of the Michigan State University police, Chris Rozman, described what he experienced last night on campus as a “nightmare” and acknowledged that he did not know the reason for the attack at the moment.
The alleged suspect has not been identified and was reported dead about four hours after two shootings were reported in the area of the university in East Lansing, Michigan.
Police found at least three dead and five injured in two different buildings on campus, Rozman said, and reported that several of the victims were taken to a nearby hospital with “life-threatening” injuries.
The authorities have not yet revealed the names of the injured and the deceased “out of respect for the families.”
Hours before the whereabouts of the attacker were known, the police published an image captured by the security cameras of the university where the suspect in the attack is seen, who was wearing a red cap and a black mask.
State Governor Gretchen Whitmer said she was alerted to the situation at the center, one of the largest in the country, which houses more than 50,000 students.
