New York, (EFE).- Carolina Herrera presented this Monday at New York Fashion Week an autumn-winter collection inspired by Empress Sisi of Austria (1837-1898) and characterized by jewelery garments, feminine silhouettes and the colors of precious stones.
The house founded by the Venezuelan designer, who handed over the creative reins a few years ago to Wes Gordon, once again recreated an aristocratic lounge at the Plaza Hotel and displayed fifty sets in which dresses for all kinds of occasions predominated.
Among their proposals, several mini-dresses stood out for the day, such as one in white tweed with short sleeves covered with silver and green jewels on the chest, neck and waist, and another in fuchsia pink with long sleeves and lines of embroidered beading. in the same colour.
For the evening galas, Gordon invited the woman to show off with dresses with a fitted bodice and voluminous skirt, such as one in lilac silk with a ruffle and a black tulle neckline, but also smooth fitted tunics in lime or strawberry satin, with layers up to the elbow
room for fantasy
Keeping makeup and hair simple and going for stiletto heels and small bags at all times, the fashion house gave room to fantasy in some outfits with huge pom-poms formed by ruffles of tulle in black and white or canary yellow.
He also showed more casual options that have been present in the latest collections: there was no shortage of the emblematic combination of a white shirt and tight pants, and the floral or wide sailor stripe prints.
Gordon, received with applause at the end of the presentation, had Herrera in the front row, capturing all eyes among celebrities and “influencers” and on the catwalk he displayed models of a diversity of races and sizes, something increasingly common in the sector.
As the designer indicated in a note, the collection draws on Empress Sisi’s “dichotomy of discipline and majesty” and recovers her “extreme opulence” in terms of craftsmanship, which she considers is not at odds with “comfort and modernity.”
This intention was reflected, especially, in innovative and urban pieces, such as a dress, a short down jacket and a cape, all in golden lurex.
