Oviedo, Jul 21 (EFE).- The FSA-PSOE and IU-Call for Asturias have closed a preliminary agreement this Friday to form a joint “progressive” and “reformist” government in which the coalition will assume the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Citizen Rights.
As reported by the FSA-PSOE after the Autonomous Executive Commission has approved the government pre-agreement, which will be put to a vote by the militancy next Wednesday, it is an agreement for the formation of an executive “of strong progressive unity that ensures political stability and allows it to successfully face the important challenges that Asturias faces in the coming years”.
The FSA-PSOE, with 19 of the 45 seats in the General Meeting, and IU-Convocatoria pos Asturias, with three deputies, seek “a strong government of progressive unity that is a guarantee of political stability and reformism.”
From the IU, which this afternoon also plans to call a referendum among the militancy, it has been pointed out that the pact seeks “the formation of a government of progressive unity that will also be reformist.”
Sources from both formations have pointed out that it is most likely that the structure of the rest of the Executive, apart from the council whose competence will fall on IU-Call for Asturias, will not be decided until next week.
The president-elect of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, wants to have his new executive already operational by August 1, five days after he takes office on Thursday, July 27.
Barbón announced days ago that for his second term he wants to form a less technical cabinet and that the vice-presidency of the Government be occupied “by a party person.”
The pre-agreement closed this Friday, drawn up over fourteen pages, aims to lay the foundations for “a strong progressive unity government, cohesive in its political will and committed, at the same time, to permanent dialogue”, with a “clear reformist vocation”.
In this regard, it emphasizes that the objective is to guarantee the “political and institutional stability” necessary to face great challenges such as the ecological transition “towards a green, digital and sustainable economy”, the creation of quality employment, the climate crisis and the protection of people guaranteeing “equality, equity, justice and solidarity”.
Both formations expressly mention their feminist commitment, as well as the defense of the rights of LGTBI groups and immigrants, and their commitment to democratic memory.
