Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The singer of Judas Priest, Rob Halford, the members of the Village People group and the vice president of the European Parliament Marc Angel are among the eleven personalities and institutions that will receive the international Alan Turing awards this year for their contribution to the visibility of the LGTBIQ collective.
These awards are given every year at Culture & Business Pride, an event held in Tenerife.
The awards owe their name to one of the fathers of modern computing, Alan Turing, whose career ended suddenly after being prosecuted for homosexuality in 1952. They were born out of a global need and with the aim of recognizing the work of personalities who have contributed to the struggle for visibility and the work of the LGTBIQ collective, being one of the most outstanding awards of its kind in the world.
Among the winners are the American activist Indya Moore, Israeli singer Dana Internacional or the Spanish composer Vanesa Martín.
