Huelva, (EFE).- The Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (CHG) has begun this week the adoption of provisional measures to seal 25 illegal catchments in Huelva, in the area of Doñana, and seven in the Vega del Guadalquivir, in Seville, having already acted on 17 of these wells.
The interventions, which are carried out in collaboration with the Seprona of the Civil Guard, are carried out to protect water resources. And guarantee the general interests, under the protection of what is established by law, the CHG has reported in a statement.
The actions consist of the requirement to the property of the extraction of the pumping equipment installed in the catchments. To proceed immediately to its sealing.
The interventions in Huelva, in the area of Doñana, take place above all in the municipalities of Almonte, Lucena del Puerto. Also in Bonares and Rociana del Condado.
Inspect other pickups
In all cases, these are wells that do not have the right to private use of water. Located outside the land considered irrigable agricultural in the Resources Management Plan of the North Crown of Doñana. And that they are involved in sanctioning procedures for illegal water withdrawals. Therefore, the measures implemented prevent the violations detected in bodies of water declared at risk from continuing and in the face of a situation aggravated by the severe drought.
To date, 13 of the 25 planned wells have already been sealed. And on the rest will act during the next days of this month of July.
In addition, and in parallel to these interventions, the CHG has proceeded to inspect and draw up a report on other existing catchments in the same area.
On the other hand, the CHG has acted this week on four recruitments of the seven scheduled in municipalities of the Vega del Guadalquivir in Seville, especially in Alcolea del Río and Villanueva del Río and Minas.
This intervention is the result of the investigation that the CHG has been carrying out for a year with Seprona on the irregular use of surface and groundwater for irrigation of citrus fruits and, to a lesser extent, olive groves in this area of the province of Seville, an operation that has allowed to detect the illegal irrigation of tens of hectares.
Judgment of the TSJA
Likewise, also with the assistance and collaboration of the Civil Guard and under judicial authorization to enter the property, the CHG has proceeded to the subsidiary forced execution consisting of the removal of pipes and any element that allows the abusive collection of groundwater in two wells on the Partido de Resina farm, in Aznalcázar, in a body of water declared at risk.
The resolution of the basin organization on this intervention is confirmed by a ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia in Seville. EFE
