Madrid (EFE).- The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has affirmed that if the PSOE does not facilitate his investiture, in the event that he wins the general elections, he will show that not only does he not care that there is a government “with Vox” but would “impose” it.
In an interview with Cadena Ser, Feijóo has reiterated that his goal is a solo government, while he has promised to provide a PSOE Executive if Pedro Sánchez wins the elections so that he does not depend on the votes of the independence movement and the ” populism” of Sumar, as he also asks the socialists.
The PP candidate has avoided ruling out a coalition with Vox at the same time that he has charged against the Socialists for pretending that the PP cannot agree with “nobody” by denying “political alternation”.
“The Socialist Party has no problem with Vox governing, what the PSOE wants is that the PP does not govern, let’s not be naive (…) if the PSOE does not want Vox to govern, it is very simple: abstain”, he stressed.
Alluding to the PP’s pacts with the Canary Islands Coalition and the Cantabrian Regionalist Party, he has maintained that the facts “deny” that his formation agrees with Vox in “all circumstances”.
He has also defended the coalition with Vox in the Valencian Community and the agreement in the Balearic Islands for this party to preside over the regional Parliament, a step that guarantees the investiture of the popular Marga Prohens on the islands.
About sexist violence
Regarding sexist violence, which Santiago Abascal’s party denies, Feijóo has stressed that the sentences prove its existence and has defended that there is not a “single comma of the Valencian agreement” that “goes against or questions the (fight against) violence sexist”.
He has also highlighted the veto of Carlos Flores, a Vox candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana who has been forced to resign and go on the list to Congress, for being convicted in 2002 of psychological violence against his wife, of which he has stated that “he had a tough divorce and involved verbal abuse.”
Feijóo has supported the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, in his aspiration to govern alone after staying two deputies from the absolute majority with 43% of the vote and has called Vox to a legislature pact that avoids the electoral repetition.
He has been critical of the PNV and the PSOE for counting on the votes of his party to separate EH Bildu in Vitoria or in the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, without even speaking to his “people”, at the same time that he has rejected the accusations of racism of Isabel Díaz Ayuso against the jeltzale formation when pointing out that she does not like disqualifications.
He has also been convinced that there will be budgets for 2024 if he manages to govern and has promised to lead the opposition if he does not reach Moncloa despite winning the elections.
