Madrid, June 2 (EFE) which will continue to contribute to reducing the rainfall deficit that drags the peninsula.
In the coming days the unstable weather will persist, with greater intensity from the middle of next week, when the presence of an Atlantic storm located near Spain will send rain to the entire peninsula, especially to the western half, Rubén has advanced Del Campo, spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Regarding temperatures, this Friday they will drop in the south and rise in the north and during the rest of the weekend they will not vary too much or will rise slightly: It will be a “somewhat cool” weekend for the time of year, with temperatures that in the center and southern half they could be between 3 and 5 degrees below the normal average.
On the contrary, “the exception will be in the north”, where they will be between 3 and 5 degrees above normal, which will determine that there are no large differences in temperature between different areas of the country, explained the spokesman.
In this way, in the central hours of the day, in general, between 22 and 27 degrees will be registered, somewhat higher in the Ebro Valley and the Guadalquivir, where in the latter they could even touch or reach 30 degrees.
This Friday the instability will be, one more day, widespread, with rains at any point in the interior of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and with the possibility that they are locally strong and accompanied by storms, hail and intense gusts of wind.
Faced with this adverse situation, the Aemet has today activated the yellow alert (risk) throughout Spain, except in the Canary Islands, due to rainfall that will accumulate between 15 and 40 liters per square meter in one hour.
On Saturday the situation will be “similar” with more frequent showers in the afternoon in large areas of the northern half and in mountainous areas of the southeast of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, where locally strong and accompanied by hail are expected.
This day could accumulate between 15-20 liters per square meter in 1 hour or similar quantities in less time, which “can cause some sudden floods in channels that usually run dry”, a situation that requires great caution, has warned the spokesman.
On Sunday, more of the same, Del Campo has observed, who details that the situation is repeated: Cloudiness of diurnal evolution, with showers in the afternoon in large areas of the interior of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and that locally they could reach strong intensity and be accompanied of hail.
Next week will also begin with a similar trend, and on Monday, again, clouds of diurnal evolution will grow, with showers in large areas of the country, and with strong precipitation intensities in mountain areas.
On Tuesday, although the unstable weather will continue, the rain will be restricted to the northern half and the Balearic Islands, without ruling out some showers in mountainous areas of the eastern peninsula; Temperatures will not vary much on Monday and will rise on Tuesday, leaving 30 degrees in the Ebro Valley and 32-33 degrees in the Guadalquivir Valley.
At this point Del Campo has warned of the situation in the Canary Islands as of Monday/Tuesday when the presence of an Atlantic storm will give rise to rainfall that may be intense and with large amounts of accumulation.
“It is possible that during the following days, especially starting next Wednesday, this storm will settle in the Atlantic, sending fronts to the peninsula and giving rise to more intense rainfall in the western half,” the spokesman concluded. EFE
