Murcia, May 28 (EFE).- The president of the Murcian PP, Fernando López Miras, thanked this morning for the support received at the polls, which put him on the verge of an absolute majority in the autonomous community, with the commitment to “continue governing for all” and working “from tomorrow to defend the interests of citizens”.
López Miras has won the elections with some 70,000 more votes than in the 2019 regional elections, the best result for the PP, he said, since 2011, which has allowed “practically the entire map” to have been “dyed blue” and the party controls the big cities.
“During the last two weeks I have traveled 4,000 kilometers in the Region of Murcia, I have visited each one of the corners asking the Murcians for a necessary majority to form a solid, strong government, without ties. Tonight the people of Murcia have given us what we have asked for”, he told the numerous militants who gathered at the Sercotel Amistad hotel, in the center of Murcia.
Miras, who spoke after one in the morning, stressed “today the Region of Murcia has said no to Pedro Sánchez, to Sanchista policies”, and warned that “the path of (Alberto Núñez) Feijóo to The Moncloa”.
He also wanted to thank “all the parties, from the difference of opinion, for their work, the campaign and their projects”, as well as his campaign team and the numerous auditors and representatives who have worked today .
In addition, he has pointed out the difficulties experienced in the last legislature, especially with the coronavirus pandemic and the failed motion of no confidence in March 2021, but he has considered that, seeing today’s results, “everything was worth it”.
“We are going to continue working, we are going to form that government, to continue governing for everyone, to continue defending the Region of Murcia and its interests,” he stressed.
Likewise, he congratulated José Ballesta, who has managed to recover the mayor’s office in the regional capital with an absolute majority after being ousted from office in the motion of no confidence.
