The Official State Gazette, consulted by EFE, has published this Friday the authorization order for this transfer dated January 20 and in which it is reported that at the meeting of the Central Commission for the Exploitation of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct held on January 19 January, it was found that the reservoirs at the headwaters of the Tagus are in an exceptional hydrological situation, that is, level 3.
Thus, according to the report made by the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works (CEDEX) for this month of January, the effective stocks in the set of Entrepeñas-Buendía reservoirs on January 1, 2023 amount to 565.5 hectometres. cubic.
The CEDEX report also includes the information sent by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation on the volumes of transferred water available as of January 1 in the basin, which are 14.63 hm3 for supplies, while there is no transferred water available for irrigation.
To this must be added the authorized volume not transferred of 30 hm3.
In this way, in accordance with the method provided for exceptional hydrological situations, the resulting transfer for the month of January could reach a maximum of 20 hm3, which has finally been the amount authorized for transfer, of which 12.5 hm3 are for irrigation and 7.5 hm3 for human supply.
