Kiev (EFE).- Ukrainian forces repelled more than 60 Russian attacks yesterday in the areas of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka and Limán, all located in Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine and on the front line, The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported today in its daily report.
“The epicenter of the fighting continues to be in Bakhmut and Marinka,” says the note, which speaks of 30 attacks repelled by Ukrainian troops in the area of Bakhmut, a city partially taken by Russian forces, which “continue launching attacks” to conquer her completely, according to the report.
The Ukrainian General Staff also reported shelling and artillery attacks against numerous towns located next to these four front points, where Russia needs to advance to fulfill its objective of taking the entire Donbas region of Ukraine.
With regard to the southern Ukrainian provinces of Zaporizhia and Kherson, also partially occupied by Russia, the Ukrainian military party explains that “the enemy continues to increase its defensive capacity”, in addition to attacking up to 30 towns in the region with bombardments.
Numerous Kiev spokesmen have announced that Ukraine is preparing for a spring counter-offensive in which it aspires to recover new territories as it did between August and November in the Kharkov (northeast) and Kherson (south) regions.
Meanwhile, Russia tries to consolidate its timid but constant advances in the east.
