San Millán de la Cogolla, June 9 (EFE).- The acting president of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, has announced this Friday that she will collect her act of regional deputy because it is due to her position as general secretary of the Riojan PSOE.
After presiding over the institutional act of the Day of La Rioja, held in the monastery of Yuso de San Millán de la Cogolla, he has advanced to the Cadena Ser de La Rioja, which will take office as regional parliamentarian on June 22, although it will lead the list of the Riojan PSOE to the Senate.
In a statement that he has later extended to journalists, he has specified that he will combine the campaign for the general elections on July 23 with work in the regional Parliament as an opposition, once the PP of La Rioja achieved an absolute majority in the elections last May 28.
“My habit is to work a lot, all hours of the day and that habit has not yet been removed after these four years,” he stressed.
During the campaign, he has indicated that he will dedicate himself to “explaining all the good things achieved by the Government of Spain and the Executive of La Rioja, as well as how the community and the country have changed in four years.”
In addition, he will combine the campaign with parliamentary work, “absolutely necessary, to control the regional government”, which will be chaired by the popular Gonzalo Capellán.
In relation to whether he will act as spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, he has added that it is a position that is pending to be decided.
In relation to the celebration of her fourth and last La Rioja Day as regional president, she has recognized that all the acts of June 9 have been “different”, but she has qualified that the first, in 2020, was in the middle of the pandemic of the covid and the following, with projects already started.
“I have celebrated this La Rioja Day with the pride of having been president for four difficult years, but luckily we were there and we have worked like champions to do the best possible for La Rioja”, she assured.
Thus, Andreu has detailed that, after the institutional act, mayors of municipalities from other political parties other than the PSOE have thanked him.
“They have told me: thank you for approaching the municipalities, the towns, for paying attention to us, thank you very much, and that took me away, that joy of recognizing work”, she assured excitedly.
