Oviedo (EFE).- The president of the Principality and socialist candidate for re-election, Adrián Barbón, has assured that the PSOE is going to guarantee “a stable and solid government based on dialogue with the groups that want to dialogue”, although he has specified that there is to go “step by step” and first you have to focus on local governments since the constitution of the municipalities is June 17.
Speaking to journalists before collecting his deputy credentials, Barbón said that he offers “stability and experience” to “ensure the future of Asturias with a solid government.”
Barbón has expressed his satisfaction with the electoral results obtained “in a totally different situation from that of four years ago” in which there has been “a very clear turn to the right” throughout the country.
In these circumstances, he has assessed, the PSOE has added 8,500 more votes than four years ago and has taken an advantage of 21,000 votes over the PP despite the process of concentration of the center-right vote.
Barbón, who has highlighted that the PSOE has won in the three constituencies and in the emigrant vote, has admitted “we must reflect” on the presence in the wings, where perhaps the party has “disconnected from a part of society” that awaits a “more response”.
Facing the generals, he said that the Socialists will propose “a happy, clean, optimistic campaign of hope, against those who approach everything from fear and fear.”
Asked about the Foro’s decision not to attend the general elections, Barbón expressed his respect and considered that it is a position that many regionalist parties are adopting “in a climate of extreme polarization.” EFE
