Madrid (EFE) General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
The CGPJ has made public this Friday the updated data from the information compiled from the Supreme Court, the National Court, the superior courts of Justice and the provincial courts, and they do not include the reviews that may have been processed by the criminal courts, competent in prosecute crimes against sexual freedom punishable by up to five years in prison.
The Supreme Court has reduced 25 sentences; the National Court, one; the higher courts of Justice, 133, which have resulted in ten releases; and the provincial hearings, 968, which have led to the early release of 105 sexual offenders from prison.
In the case of the Supreme Court, 39% of the sentences reviewed have resulted in a sentence reduction, a percentage that drops to 14% in the case of the National Court and around 30% in provincial courts and higher courts of Justice, although not all of them have provided data on the resolutions analyzed.
Among the higher courts, the 44 reductions agreed by the Madrid court stand out, followed by the Balearic Islands (16) and Andalusia (12).
In the case of the provincial hearings, it is once again that of Madrid that has cut the most sentences (126), followed by those of Barcelona (60), Valencia (55), Alicante (55), Cádiz (49) and the Balearic Islands ( 46).
