San Sebastián (EFE).- The Basque ex-cyclist Txomin Perurena, one of the prominent names in this sport in the 70s, has died at the age of 79 due to an illness.
The death of Txomin Perurena has been confirmed to EFE by sources from the Gipuzkoan Cycling Federation.
The former cyclist Txomin Perurena, born in the Gipuzkoan town of Oiartzun in 1943, lived in San Sebastián and died this Thursday, these sources have indicated.

This athlete began cycling at a very young age and, as a professional, went through the Fagor, Kas and Teka teams.
His record includes a second place in the 1975 Vuelta a España and twelve stage wins in the Spanish round. In addition, he was King of the Mountain in the Tour de France in 1974. EFE
