Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The passage of the storm ‘Óscar’ through the Canary Islands is leaving heavy rains on the western islands, with an accumulated rainfall of 61.8 liters at the El Pinar reservoir station (El Hierro), in addition to gusts of wind of up to 93 kilometers per hour, in Las Cañadas del Teide (Tenerife).
But it is also that the Canary Islands have registered the highest temperatures in Spain on the same day with the 32 degrees measured by the thermometers at the Tenerife South Airport at 4:20 p.m. or 31 in the Plaza de la Feria in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Ten minutes later.
In fact, of the ten highest temperatures in all of Spain, eight were recorded in the Canary Islands, all in the province of Las Palmas except Tenerife Sur.
In La Oliva (Fuerventura) the mercury went up to 30.5 degrees; in Tafira (Gran Canaria), up to 30.1 degrees, at the Fuerteventura Airport up to 30, the same as in the Doreste forestry center, in Telde, and in Teror (both in Gran Canaria), while in Suerte Alta- Agaete (also Gran Canaria) registered 29.8 degrees.
On the contrary, in Roque de Los Muchachos (La Palma) the thermometers marked 7 degrees at 5:30 p.m., the eighth lowest temperature in the country.
Regarding accumulated rainfall, in El Paso (La Palma) 48.6 liters per square meter were recorded; in Las Cañadas del Teide, 32.4; in Alto de Igualero-Vallehermoso (La Gomera), 31; in Tazacorte (La Palma), 29.4; and in Las Tirajanas (Gran Canaria) and Roque de los Muchachos, 26.2.
The highest gusts of wind occurred in Las Cañadas (93 kilometres/hour), Alto de Igualero-Vallehermoso (92), Izaña (Tenerife, 84), Cruz de Tejeda (Gran Canaria, 77), Arure (La Gomera, 76 ), Vega de San Mateo (Gran Canaria, 74) and Suerte Alta-Agaete (71). EFE
