Madrid / Oviedo (EFE) General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
Of this total, 90 evictions occurred due to non-payment of rent, 46.1 percent less in the interannual rate; 9 for foreclosures, 69 percent less, and 4 for other causes, 33.3 percent less.
The drop in the first quarter occurs after the number of evictions rose last year in Asturias by 1.2 percent, up to 752.
In the first quarter of the year, evictions fell across the board in all the autonomous communities, with which there was a 40.6 percent decrease in the country as a whole, with 1,279 launches, after a 52.5% drop in derivatives of foreclosures and 36.3% those caused by non-payment of rent, according to data from the CGPJ.
Lawyers’ strike
The CGPJ warns that the first quarter of the year has been affected by the strike of the lawyers of the administration of Justice, which lasted from January 23 to March 28.
The document indicates that two out of three releases (4,860, or 73.9% of the total) were the result of procedures derived from the Urban Leasing Law (LAU), while another 1,308 (19.9%) were derived from executions mortgages and the remaining 411 were due to other causes.
Breaking down the data by autonomous community, Catalonia -with 1,715, 26.1% of the national total- was where the most launches were carried out in the first quarter of 2023, followed by Andalusia, with 1,279; the Valencian Community, with 1,010, and Madrid, with 661.
Of the releases for non-payment of rent in the quarter, Catalonia concentrated 25.5% (1,240); next is Andalusia, with 853; the Valencian Community, with 675, and Madrid, with 573.
Regarding derivatives of foreclosures, Andalusia heads the list, with 323, followed by the Valencian Community, with 304; Catalonia, with 299, and Madrid, with 72.
The CGPJ clarifies that the report also includes the number of releases requested from the common notification and embargo services, although with the warning that this service does not exist in all judicial districts, so the data allows to measure the evolution, but it does not indicates the absolute values.
In addition, the fact that a launch is requested from the common service does not mean that the common service has executed it, he adds.
The launches requested to the common services in the first quarter of 2023 were 12,736, 33.9% less than the same quarter of 2022; of them, 5,931 (34.2% less) ended with positive compliance. EFE
