Madrid (EFE).- Real Madrid is the strongest football club brand in the world for the second consecutive year and the second most valuable this year behind English Manchester City, which takes over from the white team in this position after four years, with a value of 1.5 billion euros.
This is reflected in the latest report ‘Football 50 2023 by Brand Finance’, the leading independent consultant in brand value, which indicates that Real Madrid reigns as the strongest football club brand in the world, with a score of 95/100 (+0.8 points) and the highest rating (AAA+).
According to the investigation, the Spanish team, whose brand value has fallen by 4%, to 1.5 billion euros, is the one most likely to be rated “the best club in the world” by fans and as brand in football in Spain, followed by Barcelona and Atético de Madrid.
“The strength of the brand is what attracts fans, players, investors and sponsors to engage with the club, providing commercial value through higher revenues, prices -especially for sponsorship-, higher growth and sponsors, reducing risks for profitability related to weak performance on the pitch,” the report states.
This points out that 6 of the 9 Spanish football club brands present in the ranking have exceeded the pre-pandemic brand value and that LaLiga, with 9 entities this year, has established itself as the second most valuable behind the 18 clubs in the ” Premier League”.
The brand value of LaLiga rises 2% and its clubs accumulate 4,200 million euros. That of the “Premier” rises 5% to 9,000 million euros.
Barcelona has a value 4% higher, up to 1,400 million euros, and is third in the world table, and Atlético de Madrid twelfth, with a value 5% lower.
Sevilla, with a rise of 6%, has also risen five places, to 25th in the table; Villarreal climbs four positions, to 36th place, with 5% more in its brand value, while Betis has increased its brand value by 63% since the pandemic, which places it as the third football club that more grows in 2023 (31%) worldwide.
Real Sociedad enters the ranking of the most valuable club brands in the world in 37th place in the table.
The report highlights that “Manchester City (whose brand value has increased by 13%, to 1.5 billion euros, has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing Real Madrid as the most valuable football club brand in the world.”
The club’s brand value has experienced a positive increase of 34% since the COVID-19 pandemic and also has the highest revenue in the table this year.
The 50 most valuable international brands have a combined value of 20,133 million euros in brand value this year, 3% higher than what they added in 2022 (19,606 million euros).
