Seville, (EFE).- The average accumulated precipitation during this month of May in the reservoirs of the Guadalquivir hydrographic demarcation has been 71 l/m2, 73% higher than the historical average for the same month (41 l/m2). during the last 25 years.
This is stated in the Pluviometric Report prepared monthly by the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (CHG), an agency under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which was released this Tuesday.
The report includes a very humid month of May with a fairly irregular distribution of accumulated rainfall. With the most important records in the eastern part of the region. Specifically at the headwaters of the Guardal and Castril rivers, in the province of Granada.
Thus, the maximum rainfall in this period was recorded in the El Portillo reservoir (189.7 l/m2) in the province of Granada. While the minimum has been recorded in the Los Melonares reservoir (13.8 l/m2) in the province of Seville.
Swamps at 24% capacity
The reservoirs of the Guadalquivir basin ended, however, the month of May at 23.90% of their capacity. With a stored volume of 1,920 hm3, which is 607 hm3 less than a year ago.

Regarding the average annual precipitation, the accumulated value from the beginning of the hydrological year (October 1) to May 31 is 365 l/m2. This represents a decrease of 30% compared to the average for the same period of the previous 25 years (523 l/m2).
Regarding the provincial distribution of accumulated rainfall during the hydrological year, in all the provinces of the demarcation the pluviometric records are below the average of the previous 25 years.
The maximum and minimum values correspond respectively to the provinces of Jaén (422 l/m2; 22% below its historical average). And Ciudad Real (253 l/m2; 29% less). EFE
