Madrid, June 6 (EFE).- Más Madrid will hold a plenary tomorrow, Wednesday, to decide how to run for the general elections on July 23, which in practice will mean consulting the party’s militants about the decision to join Sumar , the platform of Vice President Yolanda Díaz.
The process of “debate and deliberation” undertaken in the last week by Más Madrid will conclude on Wednesday in this assembly, which will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the ‘Espacio Rastro Madrid’ in the La Latina neighborhood, and which will be attended by the municipal and regional leaders, Rita Maestre and Mónica García.
Simultaneously to the event, which will be open to the public until capacity is reached, an online vote will be held in which all those registered for Más Madrid, which is negotiating its role within the Sumar platform, will be able to participate.
In this scenario, the leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón, plays an important role, which seems clear that he will be on the lists for Madrid and in a starting position. The Madrid formation denies difficulties around the program and the acronyms.
What will be voted on tomorrow, the party points out, will be a document that synthesizes the contributions of the local and district assemblies. It will not be a definitive roadmap, but will leave room for the party leadership when it comes to designing the final pact with Sumar.
Therefore, it is not expected that the text to be voted on will include strict provisions on the positions on the electoral list that would correspond to Más Madrid or on their presence or not in the initials and logo of the Sumar ballot.
It will rather be, if the forecasts are met, a statement that endorses the integration with Sumar, which Más Madrid has defended since Díaz’s platform took its first steps.
“We are proud to make decisions collectively together with the registered men and women, this is a hallmark of our training: making ourselves strong through the participation of all the people who want a fairer, greener and more feminist Madrid and country. ”, explains the organization secretary of Más Madrid, Manuela Bergerot, in a press release.
LÓPEZ-REY CHARGES AGAINST CHURCHES AND MORE MADRID DISCREDITS HIS WORDS
This Tuesday, the number two of Rita Maestre in the Madrid City Council, Félix López-Rey, has written on his Twitter account that “imposing Irene Montero and Ione Belarra, the lowest valued ministers of the Government, is a mistake by Pablo Iglesias ” that “endangers the construction of an alternative of progress”.
“It is a time for generosity and high-mindedness. (Alberto) Garzón led the way. Think of the people! ”, He added.
Iglesias has responded to López-Rey also through Twitter, considering that he is “disrespecting our leaders.”
“Dear Felix. When you were first elected councilor in the Madrid City Council, Belarra and Montero had not yet been born. I respect your career as a neighborhood leader and as a public office of the PCE and Más Madrid, but here you are disrespecting our leaders. Hug ”, he stressed.
Sources from Más Madrid have indicated to EFE that López-Rey’s position “does not represent” neither the sentiment of the formation nor the willingness they have shown when negotiating with Sumar, since they deny having put “red lines or vetoes”.
They have also pointed out that López-Rey is not part of the party’s management bodies and is not participating in its negotiating team either.
