Arrecife (Lanzarote) (EFE).- The president of the PP in Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez and the insular secretary of CC, Migdalia Machín have announced on Monday the agreement between the two formations to govern the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the municipalities of Arrecife and Teguise.
The pact between nationalists and popular establishes that the force with the least votes supports the one with the most votes in each of the three institutions included in the agreement, for which reason the CC will lead the governments of the Cabildo and Teguise, while the PP will lead it in Arrecife.
According to the agreement reached, the four councilors of the PP will be integrated into the government group of the Cabildo, which will be chaired by the nationalist Oswaldo Betancor, president-elect of the Corporation.
Betancor obtained eight directors in the last elections, in which he beat the socialist María Dolores Corujo by 69 votes.
The sum of the nationalist and popular councilors allows them to have an absolute majority in the insular corporation.
In Arrecife, although both the CC and the PP have 7 councillors, the mayoralty will go to the PP but it has not yet been determined who will occupy the position.
As announced by the highest representatives of the PP and CC in Lanzarote, in the case of Teguise, the popular councilors will add their three votes to the seven of CC, and another of the municipal councilors whose identity they did not confirm “out of respect” will add to the agreement. since he was not present, but with whom they claimed to have a practically closed agreement, thus achieving an absolute majority.
The agreement between CC and PP leaves the PSOE governing only the municipalities of San Bartolomé, with an absolute majority, and Tías, with the support of the only Podemos councilor on the island, despite having been the political force with the most votes in five of the seven municipalities.
For its part, CC will control the Tinajo town hall alone, where Jesús Machín revalidated his fourth absolute majority and in agreement with the PP the consistories of Arrecife and Teguise.
In Yaiza, Oscar Noda, from UPI, will govern with an absolute majority and for now it is unknown what the political future of the municipality of Haría will be, where no government pact has been consummated.
The CC secretary, Migdalia Machín, recalled that her party is a formation with a vocation for government and for this reason they had been working on this agreement with the PP, a party with which, she has said, they coincide on many issues.
For her part, the insular president of the PP, Astrid Pérez, assured that she was “delighted” with the agreement that, as she has assured, will be based on loyalty and dialogue.
