Madrid (EFE).- The astronaut Sara García, the cartoonist Isaac Sánchez or the researcher Nuria Jar are some of the protagonists of the day of activities with Science as the axis that has been programmed by the EFE Agency for Monday, June 5 in the Madrid Book Fair.
The conference, free and open to the public, will take place in the Caixabank Pavilion for Cultural Activities and the first of the talks will begin at 10:30 a.m.: “Hoaxes of the Universe”, a verification “master class” at the that a team of specialists from the EFE Agency will dismantle large hoaxes related to our planet and space using digital tools, and will also teach how to do it.
Right after, at 11:45 a.m., the first Spanish astronaut, Sara García, will recount all the tests she had to pass to join the European Space Agency and dream of trips to the Moon or Mars. In addition, she will answer questions from an audience of students and all those that come through the EFE profiles on social networks, where there will be streaming of this meeting and the rest of the activities.
In the last shift of the morning, at around 1:00 p.m., the owners of the Akira Cómics bookstore and the cartoonist, stand-up writer, presenter and YouTuber Isaac Sánchez will talk about the role of the comic as a precursor of science, citing examples such as the costumes Iron Man propulsion now being developed by the British Army.
The “Parallel News” podcast, live
In the afternoon, the EFE Audiovisual team will record live a special episode of one of its most successful podcasts: “Noticias Paralelas”, which addresses daily issues that do not usually appear in the media, mainly related to the science and health.
On this occasion, its presenters will talk with the researcher Núria Jar about the Hypatia I project, which recreates the conditions of life on Mars, and with the professor and engineer David Calle, one of the best-known popularizers on YouTube.
The objective of this event is “to reaffirm the EFE Agency’s commitment to culture and science through quality journalism,” says its Director of Strategy, Soledad Álvarez, who also highlights the need to provide tools to generations young people to fight against misinformation.
