Logroño, (EFE).- Voces de la Lengua will welcome the summer with a proposal that includes traveling experiences in June, verses under the stars, mystical flamenco, theater and a magical celebration during the night of San Juan.
As reported by the organizers of the contest, during the summer Voices of the Language wants to approach new audiences, explore natural and heritage spaces of the Valley of the Language and present unique perspectives.
The first summer proposals take the floor on the weekends from June 10 to 11 and from June 23 to 25, with the Cantaderas group, the flamenco voices of Antonio Carbonell, María del Mar Fernández and Carmina Cortés, the theater pieces staged by Gloria Muñoz, Julián Ortega, Carmen del Valle, Joaquín Notario and Dulcinea Juárez and the music of Rita Barber and Miguel Núñez.
Anne Marie Lablaude, Ana Arnaz, June Telletxea and Paloma Gutiérrez del Arroyo are Cantaderas, a research group with a solid background in the field of early music, which studies songbooks from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
They bring to the Valley of the Language the “Giving voices” project, which restores melodies sung and transmitted for generations and which, specifically, focuses here on recovering and interpreting pieces from Bonifacio Gil’s songbook, the most important in La Rioja and with great part of its lost content, as well as Javier Asensio’s ballads.
mystical poetry
On June 10 and 11, the mystical poetry of San Juan de la Cruz, Sor Ana de la Trinidad, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and Santa Teresa de Ávila arrives at Voces de la Lengua to the rhythm of flamenco, at the Monastery of Santa María de San Salvador, in Cañas (June 10), and that of Yuso (June 11).
The theater will be one of the protagonists of the weekend of June 23, 24 and 25 with two proposals by great actors and actresses from the Spanish scene. Gloria Muñoz and Julián Ortega, mother and son, share the first reading of Avatars of the masks in the monasteries of Suso and Yuso (23 and 24).
And Carmen del Valle, Joaquín Notario and Dulcinea Juárez will represent scenes from classical theater -Calderón de la Barca and Lope de Vega- in a walking tour that will unite Berceo and San Andrés del Valle, on the 24th and 25th.
In addition, the festival of San Juan in the Valley of the Language is celebrated with the singer Rita Barber and the Cuban pianist Miguel Núñez, a special concert to dance and enjoy one of the most magical nights of the year.
