Beijing (EFE).- The Chinese special envoy for the Eurasian region, Li Hui, acknowledged today after his recent tour of Europe that there are “difficulties” for Ukraine and Russia to sit at the table and start peace talks.
“It will be difficult for them to sit at the table. But it is important that someone take the initiative to create the conditions for a settlement, and China is prepared to do what is necessary to promote negotiations,” Li said at a press conference today to report on his consultation tour, which led him to Russia, Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Belgium.
Li insisted that Beijing has always maintained an “objective stance” on the war in Ukraine and supports the cessation of hostilities.
