Barcelona (EFE).- Only two months ago its official profile was opened on TikTok and it is already the second most followed women’s club in the world. His dominance in the Spanish League is indisputable and this Saturday he will play his third consecutive Champions League final. It will be the fourth in five years. Barcelona is in fashion and is willing to take advantage of the pull it has among fans all over the planet.
The Barcelona team causes a sensation, not only on the pitch, but also on social networks. And his latest movement has been the opening of his own TikTok channel, which was launched on March 28 and which is having an unprecedented following and success in such a short time.
And it is that Barça is already the second women’s club in the world in terms of followers, with more than 648,400, only behind Manchester United, which founded its account in February 2022 and has 732,600 followers, and ahead of the Mexican Tigres, with an account since January 2020 and that completes the podium with 284,100.
Where this brilliant evolution can also be observed is in total interactions and views, where Barcelona also remains in second position.
In the first data, despite being a newcomer to the platform, it already has 5.5 million ‘likes’. The English have 8.5 million and the Mexican with 3.1 million interactions.
As for the accumulated views, Barça already has 46 million, Manchester United has 83 million and Tigres completes the top-3 again with 40 million. Although these last two have been active on the platform for much longer, which makes the data from the Spanish club even more meritorious.
To put it in context, if we divide the days of existence of each account by the total views, Barça comes out as the clear winner, with 720,000 daily views, compared to United’s 185,000 or Tigres’ 32,000.
The recent conquest of the League and the subsequent celebration of the title touring the streets of Barcelona with a rúa, together with the first men’s team, and the qualification for a new Champions League final, after eliminating Chelsea in the semifinals, has triggered views and interactions of the new TikTok of the women’s team. And all expectations have been exceeded.
But the exponential growth in social networks is not a matter of a team on the rise like the women’s Barça, but a trend of the Barça entity. Of course, having Alexia Putellas, the best soccer player on the planet in the last two years, also helps.
The popularity of the Catalan midfielder among fans of women’s football is such that she already has her own docuseries on Amazon Prime, ‘Alexia: Labor, Omnia Vincit’, which chronicles her evolution as a professional until she became the best player on the planet.
The star of the team led by Jonatan Giráldez has 621,700 followers on his personal TikTok account and 1.5 million interactions, despite the fact that the two-time Ballon d’Or winner has spent practically the entire season without playing due to a serious knee injury.
