Khartoum (EFE) sides for repeatedly violating the agreed armistices.
Witnesses told EFE that heavy artillery fire and shelling resounded in the Sudanese capital and in the south of neighboring Khartoum North and Um Durman, where the main FAR garrisons are located.
Likewise, combat planes flew over the area to the east of the Nile, where paramilitary units are also deployed, who have accused the Armed Forces of attacking their positions despite the truce agreed on May 20 and which expires on Saturday afternoon.
The violence has not ceased at any time since the fighting broke out on April 15, despite the multiple truces agreed and the commitments of the belligerent parties to allow access for humanitarian aid and to protect the civilian population, the most plagued by conflict.
The violations of this last truce, precisely, was the reason why Saudi Arabia and the United States, which act as mediators in a dialogue between representatives of the Army and the FAR in the Saudi city of Jeddah, suspended the talks on Thursday.
The measure was taken the same day that 18 people were killed, despite calls from the international community for the safety of civilians to be guaranteed.
Likewise, the Sudanese Army already announced on May 31 its withdrawal from the negotiations, accusing the paramilitaries of not adhering to the truce and the commitments agreed during the negotiations.
The interruption of the talks, which in principle is temporary, does not mean the suspension of the truce, although it has not been respected at any time since it entered into force, but it will make a new extension of the cessation of hostilities more difficult.
The conflict in Sudan has left at least 850 dead and more than 5,500 injured, and has caused the internal and external displacement of more than 1.3 million people, according to the United Nations.
