Madrid (EFE).- Employment increased again in May with 200,411 more affiliates to Social Security in average terms, which raises the total employed above 20.8 million for the first time, while unemployment fell by 49,260 people to 2.7 million, the lowest figure since 2008.
According to the data provided this Friday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, the increase in employment, slightly lower than that of May last year, when it was 213,643, leaves the total number of employed at a maximum of 20,815,399.
As for unemployment, the decrease in May, more moderate than those registered in the same month in other years, places the total number of unemployed at 2,739,110, the lowest figure since 2008 and the number of young unemployed at a record low of 188,043, according to data from the Ministry of Labor.
