As reported to EFE by an authorized source from the club, the UEFA inspectors, aware of the existence of a file on the Negreira case, have sent a questionnaire with some seventy questions to Barcelona, which has time to respond until next week. before taking a decision.
Three scenarios are proposed in this regard: that there are no consequences and Barça can participate in the next edition of the Champions League, that there is a temporary suspension or that a decision is not made until the open criminal procedure is resolved.
When the Negreira case broke out, UEFA requested information from the Barça club to investigate the payments to José Maria Enríquez Negreira (7.3 million euros), who was vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees between 2001 and 2018.
Even the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, met with the president of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, at the end of April in Slovenia to give him explanations in person about the case. Previously, the Barcelona club had sent a written report to UEFA in this regard.
