Santander (EFE) health and a restructuring of public companies, among other far-reaching measures.
The PP candidate for the Presidency of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, wants to govern alone with her 15 deputies, three less than necessary for an absolute majority, and for that she needs to reach programmatic agreements with other parties.
Already on election night, he declared three major objectives inalienable when agreeing on a government program: a tax cut, the PP’s measures to “make the economy work”, and its policies to improve health care, hand in hand of the professionals.
Health, priority
Buruaga, who was Minister of Health in the Executive of Ignacio Diego, from 2011 to 2015, has proudly proclaimed during the campaign that it was she who managed to finish the Valdecilla hospital, after many years with the works bogged down.
And one of the first electoral commitments that he announced this May was an agreement with health professionals in his first hundred days of government.
Another of its promises is to reduce waiting times to the terms established in the Guarantee Law: 30 days for a diagnostic test, 60 for a consultation with a specialist and 180 for an operation.
By the end of the legislature, the goal is to halve the number of people on the waiting list and the time they wait.
In addition to promising a hospital in Castro Urdiales, he has announced a reform of Primary Care and a plan for the management of human resources.
Audits to start
As a starting point to make decisions later, the PP wants to audit the Cantabrian Health Service.
And it is not the only one. The candidate for the Presidency has guaranteed in the campaign that she will commission another in the Ministry of Public Works, covering the last 20 years.
In fact, he said that it is the first thing he will do when he arrives at Peña Herbosa because he believes that Cantabria cannot start a new stage “by throwing dirt on the biggest corruption scandal that has occurred in this autonomous community with the Government of Miguel Ángel Revilla”. the alleged rigging of highway contracts that have led to an official being jailed.
The popular ones intend to reduce expenses and improve results in the administration by reorganizing the structure and operation of public companies, in addition to approving a law to simplify administrative procedures and make it easier for companies.
Up to 60,000 euros
Among its tax proposals, is to deflate the personal income tax rates for taxable bases of less than 60,000 euros with the aim of compensating, according to the program, “the impoverishment of the population resulting from the rise in prices of consumer goods.”
To promote the birth rate, it has promised a regional deduction of 1,400 euros on the full income tax rate for birth or adoption and also wants to facilitate access to housing through taxation.
Other Housing Law
Buruaga has announced that the PP of Cantabria will paralyze the housing law that was being processed in Parliament and will approve a new one that will include tax measures to encourage empty homes to come onto the market, instead of “forcing” their owners to rent them.
The measures on paper include aid for young people to buy their first home, with a 15% personal income tax deduction and a reduced 3% Transfer Tax rate for all those under 36 years of age.
Other of his electoral promises is to make the Cantabria Residence a scientific and technological park that brings together leading companies in health innovation, attract digital nomads with a plan to promote teleworking and create a high-performance surfing center that puts region on the world map of this sport.
