Valencia (EFE).- The result of the municipal elections in the 15 cities of the Valencian Community with more than 50,000 inhabitants (5 from the province of Valencia, 8 from Alicante and 2 from Castellón), and in which 45% reside of the population (2.3 million people) has been the following:
Valencian Province
VALENCIA
Inhabitants: 792,492.
Current mayor: Joan Ribó (Compromise), since 2015.
Result: Overturn in the Valencian capital, where the popular María José Catalá will be able to recover the mayoralty for the PP after eight years having achieved 13 councilors, who together with the 4 of Vox add up to an absolute majority (17 of the 33 councilors), compared to the 16 on the left (9 Compromís and 7 PSOE). Citizens disappear.
TORRENT
Inhabitants: 85,142.
Current mayor: Jesús Ros (PSOE), since 2015 (although he has served as mayor for 25 years in two stages).
Result: The popular Amparo Folgado will be able to recover the command rod that she had from 2012 to 2015, by achieving 9 councilors that, added to the 4 from Vox, will give her the majority against the block on the left, with the 10 councilors of the PSOE and the 2 of Compromís.
GANDIA
Inhabitants: 75,911.
Current mayor: José Manuel Prieto (PSOE), since 2019.
Result: The Socialists (12 councilors) will have their third term with the support of Compromís (2), while the block on the right remains with the 10 from the PP and 1 from Vox.
PATERNAL
Inhabitants: 71,880.
Current mayor: Juan Antonio Sagredo (PSOE), since 2015.
Result: Sagredo revalidates and expands his absolute majority with 14 (1 more than in 2019) of the 25 councilors, compared to 6 for the PP, 3 for Vox and 2 for Compromís.
SAGUNTO
Inhabitants: 68,066.
Current mayor: Darío Moreno (PSOE), since 2019.
Result: In the town chosen by Volkswagen to install the first gigafactory of batteries for electric cars in southern Europe, the socialist Darío Moreno, mayor since 2019, revalidates and expands the absolute majority with 11 councilors (4 more than four years ago).
Alicante Province
ALICANTE
Inhabitants: 338,577 inhabitants.
Alcalde: Luis Barcala (PP) since 2018.
Result:
Luis Barcala’s PP consolidates as the party with the most votes in the Alicante city council and increases its advantage over the PSPV-PSOE to the point of announcing that it will govern alone, after close to an absolute majority.
The popular ones grow from 9 to 14 councilors (five more) of a corporation of 29, which is why it is only one of half plus one of the seats, while the PSPV-PSOE of the former Minister of Health Ana Barceló loses a mayor, going from 9 to 8.
Ciudadanos (Cs), which was the third force four years ago, with five councilors, disappears from the plenary hall and replaces it following popular and socialist Vox, with 4 councilors, two more than Compromís, which equals its result from the last legislature , while EUPV-Podem drops from 2 to only 1.
The configuration of the Alicante town hall is as follows: PP,14; PSOE, 8; Vox, 4; Compromís, 2 and EU-Podem, 1.
ELCHE
Inhabitants: 235,580, the fourth city in the Region.
Mayor: Carlos González (PSOE), since 2015. He loses the mayoralty.
Result:
The PSOE of the current mayor, Carlos González, could not add an absolute majority with twelve councilors in a consistory of 27, which the PP would reach, with its head of the list, Pablo Ruz, with eleven councilors, and Vox, with three .
The current government partner of the Socialists, Compromís, has obtained a mayor (one less than in 2019) and the sum of both left-wing formations (thirteen) would not exceed the total of PP and Vox (fourteen).
The PP grows from 9 to 11 councilors in a corporation of 27 councilors and Vox will go from 2 to 3, while Ciudadanos (Cs) disappears.
The configuration of the Elche town hall is as follows: PSOE, 12; PP, 11; Vox, 3 and Compromís, 1.
TORREVIEJA
Inhabitants: 83,547.
Mayor: Eduardo Dolón (PP), since 2019.
Result:
The PP, which has governed since 1988 with the parenthesis of the 2015-2019 legislature, when the Greens did, has renewed its absolute majority by obtaining 16 councilors from a consistory of 25. Its head of the list is Eduardo Dolón, mayor for four years. In addition, the popular have obtained two more councilors than in the 2019 elections, going from 14 to 16.
For their part, the Socialists would win a councilor, from five to six; Vox has gone from one to two mayors and Sueña maintains one representative, while Ciudadanos, who achieved a mayor in 2019, and Los Verdes, who had three, have been left out of the consistory.
The configuration of the Torrevieja City Council is as follows: PP, 16 councillors; PSOE, 6; Vox, 2, and Dream, 1.
ORIHUELA
Inhabitants: 80,784 inhabitants.
Mayor: Carolina Gracia (PSPV), since 2022. She would lose the mayoralty.
Result:
The socialist mayor Carolina Gracia, who has held this position for a year after ousting the popular Emilio Bascuñana in a motion of no confidence after seven years in government, would lose the mayoralty, since the PP has been the force with the most votes and has obtained ten councilors (one more than in 2019), although it would have to have the support of Vox, which has achieved four councilors, to monopolize the absolute majority in a city council of 25 municipalities.
The PP, which in 2019 took almost eleven points from the PSPV, has Pepe Vergara as its candidate, against whom an oral trial has been opened for two alleged crimes against the public Treasury.
Ciudadanos, which had three councilors, is left out of the consistory.
The configuration of the Orihuela town hall would be as follows: PP, 10; PSOE, 6; Vox, 4 and Agreement to Win, 2.
BENIDORM
Inhabitants: 69,738.
Mayor: Antonio Pérez (PP), since 2015.
The mayor of Benidorm, Antonio Pérez (PP), who has held this position since 2015, has revalidated the absolute majority by obtaining his list of 16 councilors from a consistory of 25. He has even widened the distance with respect to the socialists, since the popular ones have achieved three more councilors than in 2019 and the PSOE has achieved eight councilors, two less than in the previous elections.
For its part, Vox enters the consistory, by obtaining a councilor, and Ciudadanos (Cs) loses its current representation of two councilors and is left out of the city council.
The configuration of the Benidorm City Council is as follows: PP, 16 councillors; PSOE, 8, and Vox, 1.
SAN VICENTE DEL RASPEIG
Inhabitants: 59,138 residents.
Mayor: Jesús Villar, since 2015.
Result:
The PSOE list, headed by the mayor Jesús Villar, who has held this position since 2015, has obtained eight councilors in these elections, compared to the nine that the popular ones have achieved, whose mayoral candidate is the former spokesperson for Ciudadanos (Cs) Pachi Pascual.
In turn, EUPV-Podem have obtained two representatives, Vox has gone from two to five (wins three), Compromís maintains its representation with a mayor and Cs has been left out of the consistory.
The configuration of the City Council of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, of a total of 25 councilors, is as follows: PP, 9; PSOE, 8; Vox, 5; EUPV-Podem, 2; Commitment, 1.
ALCOY
Inhabitants: 58,960.
Mayor: Toni Francés (PSOE), since 2011.
Result: The mayor of Alcoy, the socialist Toni Francés, who in 2011 put an end to three PP legislatures, aspires to his fourth term but has achieved a tight victory in these elections by losing three councilors and keeping nine.
In turn, the candidate of the popular Carlos Pastor, has doubled the number of councilors: from four to eight. Compromís and Vox reach three councilors each of these formations, EUP maintains its representation with two councilors. Podem and Ciudadanos are left out of the consistory.
The configuration of the Alcoy City Council is as follows: PSOE, 9; PP, 8; Commitment, 3; Vox, 3; and US, 2.

Inhabitants: 52,297 inhabitants.
Mayor: Rubén Alfaro (PSOE), since 2011.
Result:
The socialist Rubén Alfaro seeks his third term having obtained in these elections twelve of the 25 seats in the plenary session (he loses one). The PP, which governed from 2007 to 2011 and which was running in these elections with a list headed by Paco Sánchez (a previous candidate for Ciudadanos), has gone from five to nine councilors.
Ciudadanos, who was running with his mayoral candidate, Francisco Muñoz (previous PP candidate), has been left out of the consistory, while Vox has achieved two mayors (one more than in 2019) and the EU has achieved two representatives ( one more).

CASTLE
Inhabitants: 171,857.
Mayor: Amparo Marco (PSOE), since 2015.

REAL VILLAGE
Inhabitants: 51,369.
Alcalde: José Benlloch (PSOE), since 2011.
Result: The PSOE revalidates its majority thanks to the sum of its 11 councilors (2 less than in 2019) with the 3 from Compromís, against the bloc on the right (PP with 8 and Vox with 3).
