Santander (EFE) The PRC has suffered, which has become the second political force in the region.
The eight parliamentarians obtained by the regionalists lead them to 2003 results and to recognize that the Government of Cantabria is already from the PP or, as its leader, Miguel Ángel Revilla, has said, from the “tide of the right”.
The still Cantabrian president has attributed to this wave the fact that the PP has gone from 9 to 15 deputies and that Vox has managed to double the representation it had in the Parliament of Cantabria, by obtaining 4 seats this Sunday compared to the 2 it had.
The Cantabrians vote for change
However, the PP candidate for the Presidency of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, has said that the Cantabrians have “voted change with clarity, categoricalness and courage” giving victory to her party in the regional elections, and demanding a Government new, which must come out of the agreement with other political forces.
“Tomorrow will be the new day of a new future, the Cantabrians demand a new government but they say that political forces have to reach an agreement,” added Buruaga, who has not said more about a possible pact with Vox, which he has left in hands of the PP that decision.
“We have demonstrated our work, which has been to convey our message and, therefore, it is not up to us to make that decision,” said the Vox candidate for the Presidency, Leticia Díaz.
Who will not have to think of anyone else will be Gema Igual, the now mayoress of the Cantabrian capital, who at a great party this Sunday of the PP of Cantabria together with Buruaga, has celebrated the absolute majority that the popular have achieved in Santander, where this formation has governed throughout the democratic era.
There was no “surprise”
Despite being the second winner of the night this Sunday until 98 percent of the vote was counted, the PSOE has not managed, with one more deputy in Parliament, to give the “sorpasso” to the PRC, its government partner for four legislatures.
With more than 98% of the ballot, the PRC achieved slightly more than 100 votes than the PSOE, reaching more than 65,600, almost half of those it achieved in 2019 (122,679).
“It is not a good night for Cantabria”, Revilla assured, while his vice president for the last four years has described this day as “bittersweet”.
The PP candidate has stressed that Cantabria will have a government that thinks about the needs of all and has thanked the president of her party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the president of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla, whose effort in the last 40 years It has been recognized.
Buruaga has been received by her people with hugs, kisses and a loud ovation, shouting “president”.
He has stressed that his party has made history, increased its support and the municipalities in its hands, including Santander, Camargo and Piélagos with an absolute majority.
According to Buruaga, the popular ones have projected from Cantabria the message that in all of Spain things can be changed, “that there is no need to resign or settle.”
Revilla sees a PP Vox pact
Miguel Ángel Revilla has acknowledged that it is “a bad night” for his party and, although he will speak to the popular ones if they call him, he believes that PP and Vox will agree to govern the autonomous community because “they are the same”.
“It is not a good night for the party or for Cantabria”, lamented the general secretary of the PRC, who has confirmed his continuity as a deputy in the regional Parliament during the next four years of the legislature, with the aim, he said, of “letting a solid game without Miguel Ángel Revilla”.
The one who has been president of Cantabria for 16 years believes that the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, inflation, the trains “that did not fit through the tunnels” or “the case of corruption of an official” of the government have taken their toll on the PRC. highway service of the Ministry of Public Works, in which there was “no involvement of anyone” from his Government, he has asserted.
