Córdoba (EFE) Cordoba capital.
The burning chapel will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on a day in which the Córdoba City Council has declared official mourning, while a continuous influx of citizens and authorities is expected to say goodbye to one of the most universal “Cordoba people”.
Likewise, the City Council of Alhaurín El Grande (Málaga) has decreed three days of official mourning for Antonio Gala, Adoptive Son and Favorite Son of the town that the poet and playwright defined as “the town I dreamed of” and where he lived almost 12 years continuously until 2018.
The Gala Foundation announces the next publication of the author’s “unpublished work”
The director of the Antonio Gala Foundation, José María Gala, has revealed on Monday the existence of an “unpublished work” of the writing that died yesterday Sunday in Córdoba “that may see the light soon.”
The person in charge of the institution has pointed out to the journalists that “in these cases we often say that the man has left, but that the writer stays with us because indeed his work is here with us”, and in this case he is going to make cash with the publication of his posthumous work.
The ashes of Antonio Gala will rest at the headquarters of the foundation that he created and that bears his name in Córdoba, which today houses his funeral chapel. It will be “that way because it is what he asked for”, explained José María Gala, who specified that it will be in “an intimate act” on an unspecified date.
The ashes will be deposited by a person designated by the author and in “the place where Antonio wanted”, where they will rest “next to the ashes of another person that Antonio kept in his house with him for many years.”
“We are going to comply with that because it was his will,” said the director of the Gala Foundation, who added that the farewell ceremony that will take place at the foundation itself today will be brief, with the reading of a poem by the writer by from one of the residents of the institution and with a few words on behalf of the family and others on behalf of the Foundation, to later leave the funeral chapel to be cremated.
José María Gala has underlined “the most objective fact that Antonio will continue to live forever through his literary work, his enormous literary work, but also through his foundation.”
