Kiev, (EFE).- The Kiev authorities reported this Sunday that the Ukrainian capital suffered last night the biggest attack with Russian drones since the start of the invasion by troops from Moscow, which has left at least one person dead and another wound.
The Kiev City Military Administration claimed on its Telegram channel that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed more than 40 Iranian-made kamikaze drones in Kiev airspace.
“This was the most massive drone attack against the capital since the start of the large-scale invasion,” the institution said.
Although they pointed out that there is still no conclusive data, the municipal authorities affirmed that the remains of the downed drones caused personal and material damage in several districts of kyiv.
a russian plan
Specifically, in the Holosiivskyi district, one person died and another was injured due to the impact on a seven-story non-residential building and several fires were also recorded.
As reported by the mayor of Kiev, Vitaliy Klitschko, the first explosions occurred around 01:00 local time, but the drones continued to arrive in several waves and from various directions throughout the night.
According to the Ukrainian outlet “Kyiv Independent”, the attack could be part of a Russian plan to deplete Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses, which include US-supplied Patriot anti-missile systems, on the eve of the expected Ukrainian counteroffensive.
