Murcia, May 25 (EFE).- The Civil Guard has arrested thirteen people in Albudeite (Murcia) and is investigating another two for alleged vote buying, including the socialist candidate for mayor of the municipality, Isabel de los Dolores Peñalver , although all have already been released after going to court.
This has been indicated to Efe by sources of the investigation, who have specified that among those arrested was another candidate from the socialist list, whose name they have not specified.
According to these sources, among the detainees is also Héctor Antonio Martínez García, who is part of the socialist candidacy for the autonomous elections of the Murcia Assembly for next Sunday.
As has happened in other cases such as Melilla or Mojácar (Almería), the Civil Guard is investigating the alleged purchase of votes by mail, to which the Murcian PSOE has reacted immediately, ensuring that its “pulse does not tremble at any illegal practice or outside of ethics” and that if it is confirmed that the facts affect militants, they will be expelled from the party and dismissed from all the positions they hold.
“We are relentless against any behavior that does not meet the highest ethical standards, because in this party there is no place for those who carry out illegal actions” and “we will not tolerate any type of lack of exemplary character in our organization”, the PSOE has indicated before of affirming that politicians must “act responsibly and exemplary”.
“We hope that these intolerable events and that they are affecting different organizations in our country are not instrumentalized by any formation, because if so, the only one that would really be affected would be democracy,” adds the formation, which considers that Murcia is a community “punished for decades of PP corruption against which the PSOE has fought tirelessly and will continue to do so.
He concludes that he will always defend a transparent and quality democracy with all the instruments at his disposal.
