The seven detained by the Civil Guard will be placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 4 of Vera between this Thursday and tomorrow Friday.
According to the aforementioned sources, the alleged plot tried to buy the postal vote of foreigners with limited resources, to whom they offered different amounts that could range from 100 to 250 euros for each ballot in favor of the PSOE.
The sources consulted have pointed out that, at least part of those arrested, tried to make this type of purchase in person, at the very door of the Mojácar Post Office branch, where they allegedly approached foreigners likely to sell their vote.
Apparently, they not only offered direct payments, but also commissions to those who managed to attract other people to lend themselves to it.
They have explained that in Mojácar there is no immigrant population linked to large-volume agriculture as in other Almería municipalities, but there is a significant number of Latinos who work in restaurant establishments.
The complaint that raised the alarm
According to the first information, it was one of the people who were offered money in exchange for a ballot for the PSOE who raised the alarm and made possible the complaint that led to a dozen searches and the various arrests this Wednesday. and investigations.
The PSOE has provisionally suspended membership and has opened a file on Bartolomé Flores, while it has not done so with Vizcaíno as he is not a member even though he is on the party lists.
During the ten searches carried out, ballots with the votes and census documents have been intervened, in addition to others of interest for the investigation.
Mojácar, a municipality of about 7,500 inhabitants, is governed by the PP with an absolute majority, since in the last municipal elections it obtained 8 of the 13 councilors of the City Council, 57.1% of the votes, that is, a total of 1,692 .
The PSOE achieved 5 councilors with 38.6% of the votes (1,145 votes), while abstention reached 28.74%.
