Palma (EFE).- The national spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Patricia Guasp (Palma, 1977), is the candidate of the liberal party for the Presidency of the Balearic Government, from which she proposes, if she achieves her objective, “to question the status quo” so that the islands are “a land of more progress”.
In an interview with Efe, the leader assures that, if she reaches the Presidency, the first thing she will do is go to Moncloa to ask the Government to update the insularity bonus, frozen since 2006, according to the complaint.
In his opinion, it is “an offense” that has led the citizens of the Balearic Islands to be “second and third class”, especially due to the precariousness of public services.
Balearic Islands: “entrepreneurial land”
QUESTION: Define the Balearic Islands a phrase.
ANSWER: It is a land of opportunity, a mixture of many cultures, a multicultural melting pot, a land of entrepreneurship. Above all, it has to be a land of more progress.
Q: If you win and become president of the Community your first half would be…
A: The first thing I am going to do is stand in Moncloa and not leave until I get the insularity bonus updated. It would give dignity to public employees. We lack toilets, we lack doctors, justice officials, national police and civil guards. There is no updated insularity bonus, which has been frozen since 2006. Neither the PP nor the PSOE have updated it. It is a grievance that makes the citizens of the Balearic Islands second and third class, with public health services and security services that are much more precarious than in other parts of Spain.
Q: Tell us three words with which you would like the Balearic Islands to be defined after your mandate.
A: Freedom, equal opportunities and progress.
Q: What series would you like to see filmed in the Balearic Islands?
A: “La Casa de Papel”, because it is a check against the system and they do it to give people back what is theirs, give them back their money but, above all, give them back what is theirs, and Ciudadanos is doing the same, questioning he the state in which, everything about the system that does not work, the pension system or the health system, that the bipartisanship does not dare to change. Also because our general secretary (Adrián Vázquez) is very similar to the Professor.
Q: Is it necessary to reduce the number of tourists that come to the Balearic Islands in summer?
A: I would not dare to limit or prohibit or reduce the number of tourists. What we have to work on is making the Balearic Islands a smart destination, but, above all, balancing the triple “s”: environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability.
The housing problem in the Balearic Islands
Q: Do you have social networks?
A: Of course.
Q: What was your last tweet?
A: It has been in relation to the main problem of young people and the middle classes in the Balearic Islands: housing. We have a plan, a package of 30 measures, and I have announced the elimination of the property transfer tax and other tax discounts to favor rental housing and home purchases.
