Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The man accused of killing his parents in San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife, in 2020, has testified again this Tuesday at his own request to assume his guilt in the crime after in the first day of the trial to say that he was not sure it was him because he was under the influence of medication.
“Yes, I stabbed my mother and father with the knife,” he said when asked by his lawyer.
In this way, the popular jury could issue its verdict this Wednesday, which once the authorship of the murder is recognized, must determine if the mitigation of drug addiction and its voluntary confession and the aggravating factors of kinship, treachery and cruelty are applied.
According to the forensic report, the crime was consummated with seven stab wounds to each of the victims using a knife with a blade of fifteen centimeters and an attempt to slit the throat.
The latter was done in the same way as animals are sacrificed, given that the defendant had done it on several occasions for dedicating himself to agriculture and raising animals with his parents.
On the second day of the trial, the troops who participated in the investigation and detention of the defendant intervened.
They all confirmed that on March 12, 2020, around eight in the afternoon, they went to the house after receiving a call from the other two children of the deceased, who had tried to contact them without luck.
From the window, the mother’s foot could be seen, which they were later able to verify was on a large pool of somewhat coagulated blood and from which there were footprints that led to where the lifeless body of the naked father was, in a tool room. .
The children missed the latter’s car and inside the mobile phones and one landline had disappeared.
From the first moment, the children were convinced that the perpetrator of the crime was their brother due to the problems he had with drugs, which had worsened in recent days, which led him to constantly demand money from his parents.
When the Civil Guard called the defendant the next day, he answered and they agreed to meet at a gas station on the night of March 13-14, where he informally acknowledged the facts and said that he did it under the influence of drugs and because his parents always did. they were comparing with the other brother.
The agents did not perceive that he was under the influence of any substance and although he was nervous, he responded coherently.
He confessed to them that he had thrown a bag with his blood-stained clothes and the knife in a container and the car keys in a curve. The latter could be located but the garbage had already been transferred to the Arico environmental complex and proceeded to its treatment.
One aspect that the prosecutor insisted on several times is whether the agents had found traces of drug use in the house, which was denied by all of them, despite the fact that the defendant assures that before the crime he consumed at least half a gram. of crack.
Suspicions also focused on him because the door of the house was locked and since there was no disorder at the crime scene, it was clear that the person responsible knew the house.
There was also a fanny pack that his mother always carried with her with the proceeds from the sale at the market during the weekend and that used to add up to about 600 euros, of which only ten were found for the defendant. The rest was spent on buying drugs and spending the night with a prostitute.
In the hands of the deceased, DNA was found that has 10,000 million possibilities of being from the son and in one of the footprints that of the mother and the defendant are mixed, but since they are relatives, it could also correspond to that of the father.
The woman was 1.65 meters tall and weighed 65 kilos, she had a hand injury compatible with having defended herself and the others had damaged her heart, lungs and liver, all of them fatal.
The mother had no chance of defense and the stab wounds were delivered from the front except for the one that crosses the neck from one side to the other with a path identical to that used to slit the throat of animals that was carried out from behind.
The same thing happened with the father, who also presented seven wounds, one when trying to defend himself, another on the side, fatal from necessity, and one more with an identical route on the neck. In both cases, forensics conclude that the perpetrator of the murder sought the death of the victims.
Regarding the psychological profile of Gabriel Iván MD, the experts say that he had full capacity to know what he did and avoid it, which does not mean that he does not present some personality disorders that led him to be addicted to drugs.
They concluded that what happened is not compatible with suffering withdrawal syndrome or the need to have money. The fact that he picked up his bloodstained clothes and the knife to throw away shows that his behavior was always rational. EFE
