Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños (PSOE), has opined this Tuesday that the Popular Party’s model for housing is “speculation, bubble and a lot of corruption, as they already demonstrated at the end of the 90s”.
Bolaños made these statements at a rally at the Club Victoria in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, after participating in an electoral propaganda distribution together with the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carolina Darias, on the beach of Las Canteras, where they have delivered votes and roses to passers-by.
As stated by the minister, the housing law approved by the coalition government promotes a new model, “a fifth pillar of the welfare state that is committed to public housing, which ceases to be a privilege to be a right”, said .
The socialist minister has stated that with the Popular Party, “which only talks about repealing all social advances”, it would go back 10 years and has warned that if Vox was needed, it would go back about 50.
About Darias, he has predicted that she will be a “close, capable, who knows all levels of public administration and the problems and difficulties of the people” mayoress.
Regarding the political climate, he regretted that the Council of Ministers suffers “many lies every week” and that while the PSOE “strives to explain its program, others say they are going to repeal everything”
He has also pointed out that in the five years of Pedro Sánchez at the head of the Government of Spain, the resources that the Canary Islands receive are 58% more than in the previous five with the PP.
He has also highlighted the reinforcement approved by the Council of Ministers for primary care.
“We need open centers, with doctors. Voting on the 28th is for there to be universal public health, that there is no one living in our country who is closed the door of a medical office because that is what makes us great and dignified”, Bolaños has abounded.
During her speech, Carolina Darias insisted on her measure to make municipal infrastructure available to the districts such as police stations, social services or family and childhood teams for vulnerable people.
He has also pointed out the need for there to be a maintenance team in each district to correct some deficiencies in municipal management.
“We have gone to many squares in this city where a bank breaks and it takes time to fix it, but if we had a team dedicated to this, we would do it faster,” Darias exemplified.
He has also said that his management will focus on culture and has announced that each district will have a cultural development center like the Jesús Arencibia de Tamaraceite.
“A healthy city, for walking, strolling, for life, where we face the challenges that lie ahead in terms of housing, which will be a priority objective”, added the socialist candidate, who has announced that they will continue to provide public land for disposition of the Government of the Canary Islands to create more public housing
In this sense, it has announced its commitment to build 1,000 publicly rented homes, “with young people in mind”.
For his part, the PSOE candidate for the regional Parliament for Gran Canaria, Sebastián Franquis, pointed out that what is at stake next Sunday is the future of the Canary Islands and that it would be necessary to reflect on whether the socioeconomic indicators of the Canary Islands have improved in these four years “despite the difficulties”.
Franquis has admitted that the Canary Islands have “a pending issue” with the waiting lists, “a problem that exists throughout the national territory” and that for this they have proposed a law to enforce waiting times for Health.
It has also highlighted the reinforcement in the hiring of 2,800 teachers, the implementation of free education from 0 to 3 years, improvements in dependency or in foreign investment data. EFE
