Oviedo (EFE).- The National Police has “very advanced” the investigation into the death of the two 12-year-old twins who on Friday fell out of a sixth-floor window in the building where they lived in Oviedo and it is foreseeable that all the information be delivered to the court in the next few hours.
This was stated this Monday in statements to journalists by the Government delegate in Asturias, Delia Losa, who said that “any type of suicide” is “tremendous”, and more so in the case of the “so unexpected” death of two girls.
Sources close to the investigation have specified to EFE that the investigations have focused on the family and school environment of Alexandra and Anastasia, of Russian nationality and settled in Oviedo for years together with their parents and her 10-year-old brother, in case they could have produced a situation of harassment towards minors.
However, the Principality of Asturias Prosecutor’s Office has not yet opened any type of proceedings, sources from the Public Ministry have confirmed to EFE.
The agents rule out the intervention of other people
From the first moment, the National Police ruled out the participation of third parties and described what happened as a “tragic event” without considering the possibility of an accident.
The management of the La Ería public school, where the girls studied sixth grade, has decided to keep the start of the end-of-year trip to Madrid that was scheduled for the students of that course for tomorrow, Tuesday.
The management of the educational center addressed the families to request discretion and respect for the family of the girls, while the Association of Mothers and Fathers of the Students (Ampa) has requested maximum respect and privacy.
The two twins jumped out of a window of the building where they lived, in the Oviedo neighborhood of La Ería, when they had just left home with the apparent intention of going to school.
The events occurred around 9:00 a.m. in a building located at number 47 Calle Facetos.
Although the minors lived on the fourth floor, the window that was found open and from which they would have fallen into the void is located on the sixth.
According to sources close to the investigation, the girls left the house with the apparent intention of going to school; however, they left their backpacks on the landing before throwing themselves out of the sixth floor window on the interior stairs.
The family of Russian origin has been living in the Asturian capital for years and the twins had a 10-year-old brother who at the time of the event was already in the same school where his sisters studied.
This tragedy occurs three months after a similar event occurred in Sallent (Barcelona), where on February 21 two twin girls, also 12 years old, threw themselves into the void from the balcony of their house on the third floor. One of the girls died and the other was seriously injured. EFE
