Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- UD Las Palmas will play next Saturday for direct promotion to the First Division against Deportivo Alavés at the Gran Canaria Stadium, precisely the same rival against which they were relegated to the Second Division five years ago in that same scenario.
The last season of the island team in the national elite was 2017-2018, which ended with relegation after being thrashed at home by the team from Vitoria (0-4), which ensured mathematical permanence after that comfortable victory on matchday 34 .
On this occasion, the winner of the Las Palmas-Alavés match next Saturday will get the prize of direct promotion to the First Division, while a tie would only be worth the team from Gran Canaria, as long as Levante does not thrash Real Oviedo at the Ciutat de Valencia stadium and overcome the +5 general goal difference that the yellow team has with respect to the granota team.
In a hypothetical final triple tie at 72 points between Granada, Las Palmas and Levante, the Andalusian team, which hosts CD Leganés, would be the victim, and the Gran Canarias and Valencians would be promoted to the top flight. EFE
