Pamplona (EFE) to relax and spend time with family and friends.
From north to south, from east to west, it is possible to take a short tour of Navarra with the candidates taking into account their geographical preferences, which go through Pamplona, towns like Isaba and Aoiz or natural enclaves like the Bardenas and the Nacedero of the Urederra.
Javier Esparza (UPN), in love with Aoiz, his people
The UPN candidate, Javier Esparza, has Aoiz, his town, as the place he likes to go to spend a day off. Esparza knows this town well located in the heart of the pre-Pyrenees basins, since he was mayor of the town in the 1999-2003 and 2003-2007 legislatures.
Visiting Aoiz with the regionalist candidate, we could visit the historic center of the town, which was walled up until the 16th century and which preserves samples of ashlar mansions, some emblazoned and with Baroque windows.
Among them, the palace of the Argamasilla de la Cerda, of Renaissance style, stands out. Opposite is the imposing church of San Miguel, which houses a magnificent main altarpiece, a Romanesque baptismal font and two works by Juan de Anchieta.
And if you eat in the town, you cannot forget to order the delicious Aoiz crust for dessert.
María Chivite (PSN): The source of Urederra
The PSN candidate for the presidency, María Chivite, a fan of mountains and walks, has as her favorite spot the source of the Urederra River, a unique protected natural space in Navarre for its uniqueness and beauty.
Located in the Urbasa-Andía Natural Park, it is the natural outlet of the aquifer formed in the karstic massif of said park. It is a route dotted with waterfalls, pools of water and a large beech forest.
It is an ideal place to walk and rest your mind, but it is an extremely fragile ecosystem and therefore access is limited to 500 people a day.
Uxue Barkos (Geroa Bai): The parks of Pamplona
For the Geroa Bai candidate, Uxue Barkos, the best place to take a breather in the midst of daily responsibilities is in any park in Pamplona, her hometown, where she was councilor in the 2007-2011 and 2011-2015 legislatures.
Luckily for the candidate, Pamplona is a green city with an abundance of parks of all kinds and conditions, some of which include fortifications, a mini zoo, a romantic garden and even a Japanese one.
Thus, in addition to the “green lung” of the Ciudadela and Vuelta del Castillo, the Navarrese capital has spaces such as the parks of Yamaguchi, La Taconera, La Media Luna, Lake Mendillorri, Virgen del Camino or the river park del Arga, 34 kilometers.
Laura Aznal (EH Bildu): The Ezkabarte Valley, where she lives
The Ezkabarte Valley, where he lives, is the favorite spot in Navarra for the EH Bildu candidate, Laura Aznal.
This enclave of the Merindad de Pamplona, through which the Camino de Santiago runs, is made up of the towns of Anoz, Arre, Azoz, Cildoz, Eusa, Ezkaba, Garrués, Makirriain, Oricain, Orrio and Sorauren.
On a walk through this beautiful Navarrese valley, we cannot miss the Church of San Esteban, in Eusa, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, in Romanesque style, and the Basilica of Trinidad de Arre, a former hospital and hostel for Jacobean pilgrims.
Javier García (PP) and Carlos Pérez Nievas (C’s) prefer the Bardenas
“They represent freedom, the feeling that there is nothing. It is a plan with the family in which there is nothing that misleads you, I love it, ”says the PP candidate, Javier García, about the Bardenas Reales, a space that is also the favorite of the Ciudadanos candidate, Carlos Pérez Nievas.
It is also an excellent option to spend a day of leisure. This 42,500-hectare Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, has a large network of tracks and paths, including the Cañada Real de los Roncaleses from the Pyrenees.
There are many possibilities offered by a natural space in which three fundamental areas can be distinguished: El Plano, the large horizontal plateau in the northern and western areas dedicated to crops; the Bardena Negra, in the south, formed by a set of horizontal reliefs covered with pine forests and scrub; and La Blanca, which is the most visited since it contains the most spectacular formations, such as Castildetierra and Pisquerra.

Begoña Alfaro (With you Navarra): Isaba and the Roncal Valley
The Contigo Navarra candidate, Begoña Alfaro, leads us by the hand to the town of Isaba, the northernmost town of the seven that make up the Roncal Valley. And once there, the candidate highlights, “a walk to the Belabarce waterfall and a few straws in the afternoon.”
Isaba is located at the confluence of the Uztárroz, Belagua and Belabarce rivers which, from there, form the Esca river. In the town, its wooden and stone houses stand out, distributed in different neighborhoods, with narrow and cobbled streets. In this complex, the church of San Cipriano, from the 16th century, is a must.

In the deep Roncal Valley is the Belabarce waterfall, almost hidden in a lush forest. It is a perfect visit to make before eating in one of the numerous restaurants in the area and tasting the famous Roncal cheese.
