In an electoral act in which the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has participated, Santana has warned in an ironic tone that he does not intend to talk about the president of the Tenerife hotel association, Jorge Marichal, but has indicated that in the demonstration held yesterday in Los Cristianos , more than 5,000 people took to the streets to say that “we are not going to allow the territory to continue being devoured.”
He was grateful that the activists “put their bodies” and “we (in reference to United Sí Podemos) provide institutional support” thanks to which, he said, the Port of Agaete, the Cuna del Alma urbanization or the Chia Soria.
Santana has defended the management of her party in the Government, in which, she added, feminist policies have been developed, such as setting up crisis centers to protect women, increasing aid to women victims of violence by 700 percent macho or launch the co-responsible plan, which has allowed more than 30,000 children in the Canary Islands to enjoy family reconciliation.
It has also highlighted that the Social Security contribution of women caregivers has been recovered and has considered that “the mess” that previous governments had with the management of the Unit, from which it has been possible to remove 8,000 people from the waiting list, more services are provided and the amounts of aid have increased.
Santana has also referred to the citizenship income and has stressed that there are more than 40,000 protected families “with more rights than ever” and the lowest poverty rates have been achieved since 2014.
“This is doing politics for the people,” said Santana, who has defended the ecotax and quality tourism to reverse the ecological footprint and a temporary regulation of vacation rentals because, he has stated, it is not the same who has an entire building who has an apartment or house who wants to spend a few months for this purpose.
He has also defended that the purchase of homes be limited to foreign interests and has stressed that the “drive and commitment” of the quadripartite that governs the Canary Islands has put his formation, against a PSOE that has governed with CC and PP.
He has referred to the CC candidate for Parliament for Tenerife Ana Oramas “who has lived on politics since 1979” and who is “in the know about the water box”, the same as the leader of that formation Fernando Clavijo, of whom he said that he likes “very little work”.
Santana has warned that not a single vote of United Sí Podemos will go to the right, an issue that, he has continued, the PSOE has not wanted to advance “that if the numbers do not come out, it would govern again with the PP or CC.”
Laura Fuentes, general secretary of Podemos and candidate for Parliament for Tenerife, has referred to the evolution of her political formation and the results of the political management carried out by this party in defense, she said, of social rights.
Sources have affirmed that the demands are maintained and that they are fighting against “the destruction” represented by Fernando Clavijo and Ana Oramas.
Manuel Marrero, candidate for the Cabildo de Tenerife, has indicated that all the social laws approved during this legislature have been promoted and supported by the parliamentary group and has asserted that “rights are being conquered and transferred to the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands”.
