Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Drago Verdes Canarias candidate for Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Francisco Vaquero, advocates for a city that “revalues” the neighborhoods, is “friendly” and where the neighbors can “Move and live calmly, without anyone going to throw them out the next day.”
As he explained to EFE this Saturday, the proposal of this coalition for the capital of Gran Canaria “differs well” from the rest at a time when “it seems that everything is similar and that everything is the same, especially in the field of The ecology”.
Vaquero has said that Drago Verdes Canarias’ plans for this city “go far beyond four years, because the thing deserves it” and has alluded to the need to conceive of houses as “homes” and neighborhoods as “a way of living that gives character to the cities and the community”.
The Drago Verdes Canarias candidate has lamented the urban deterioration that, in his opinion, has occurred in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in recent decades, estimating that it has also meant “the deterioration of relations between people, which ultimately They are the ones who represent the Canary Islands”.
Vaquero, of whom the coalition candidate for the Presidency of the Canary Islands Government, Alberto Rodríguez, has highlighted that he is “a humble person, from the neighborhood, a hard worker, and a much-loved schoolteacher of Schamman, considers that there has been in this city “an abandonment of obligations by the institutions”.
In Rodríguez’s opinion, Francisco Vaquero’s proposals “are very attached to the terrain, to the daily reality of the neighborhoods, and they have to do with what he is like”.
“Paco does not deceive anyone”, as has been done by someone who “came to the City Council saying that he was going to do things differently, that he was going to facilitate community life in the city, that housing was going to be more accessible, that the Mobility was going to be cheaper and it was going to allow people from the neighborhoods to access other parts of the municipality without problems”, something that “has not happened”, Rodríguez asserted.
The Drago Verdes Canarias candidate has also stressed that “Paco Vaquero does not visit the neighborhoods in the campaign, but is from the neighborhood, as in the rest of the candidacies” of this electoral coalition “throughout the whole the archipelago”.
What differentiates this candidacy from the others “is coherence and credibility” because “those who have been governing the institutions for the last 25 or 30 years do not have credibility”, but neither do “those who came to govern in recent years, because, unfortunately , they entered with great enthusiasm, projecting the change and what they have generated is frustration and disappointment ”, he has criticized.
For Rodríguez, “there is a very broad political space for a force of obedience from the Canary Islands, green and with an axis of sustainability, to have a powerful representation on May 28, a decision in which the people will have the last word.”
The spokesman for Equo in the European Parliament and former MEP of this formation, Florent Marcellesi, has ratified his “support for the candidacy of Paco Vaquero for this Mayor’s Office and that of Alberto Rodríguez for the Parliament of the Canary Islands”, considering that “we cannot continue with this model of society and islands, based on mass tourism”, which is “a predator of natural resources and also an exploiter of people”.
According to Marcellesi, “we have to have an alternative that is green, and that is fair” to “allow residents to continue living in their neighborhoods, not to be displaced by tourists”, and to “live well in a sustainable way”.
On behalf of Equo, he has given “all the support so that a city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can be built” that is “sustainable, fair, inclusive and a real alternative to the concrete, brick and tome model”. EFE
