Moraleja (Cáceres) (EFE) and despite the “rage” and “helplessness” they feel, they are “hopeful” to be able to return to their villages this Saturday.
The Adolfo Suárez de Moraleja pavilion (Cáceres) has become the main reception point for the evacuees, in total, more than 700 people who were thrown from their homes and their towns in the middle of the night by the proximity of the flames.
About a hundred people sleep on the premises
About a hundred people slept in these facilities last night, because a large part of the 231 evacuees who arrived on the first day “have decided to move to the house of relatives or friends,” the mayor of Moraleja, Julio César Herrero, explained to Efe.
“Above all, they ask us if we know what is going to happen today and if they will be able to return to their homes, and the fact is that the fatigue among the evacuees is beginning to be noticed,” he pointed out.
Emi Martín is a neighbor of Descargamaría and has related that Thursday night was “terrible, because when we went to bed we could see the fire all over the mountain and we went to sleep with terrible fear.”

The evacuation was also a moment of nerves since, he pointed out, “we didn’t know what to take or where to throw it, but well then they treated us very well here and, furthermore, we hope that the fire is under control and we’ll see.” if it is possible that they send us to sleep today and be able to see what we find there”.
Emi has revealed that in these situations and the fact that the fire was set on fire “you feel very helpless and very angry and you would like to catch those people who don’t know what they gain by doing this.”
For his part, Miguel Ángel Acosta, who is an employee of the Descargamaría City Council and a resident of the town, remembers the night of the eviction as “quite screwed up”.
“The Civil Guard notified us at around 3:30 a.m. and told us that we had to leave town, although I stayed to help a neighbor who has mobility problems and the power to get him down to the meeting point,” he detailed.
Angry about the intention of the fire
After thanking them for the treatment they have received in Moraleja, he has been very angry about the intention of the fire.
“If you take that person, we don’t know what we would do with them, because we have been very scared, for us and for the animals that we have there and, also, with everything that is coming now, because we don’t know what we are going to find when we arrive, and we are talking about our life and our house”, he stressed.

Likewise, Hilario Acosta, from Cadalso, stated, very emotionally, that the night of the eviction “it was all fear and nerves, but especially when we left the town and reached the highway, because we saw such a huge fire and I almost had a fit.” ”.
Extinguishing work on the Las Hurdes fire is focused on Ovejuela (Cáceres)
The firefighting operation that has affected the Las Hurdes and Sierra de Gata regions of Cáceres since last Wednesday is focused this Saturday in the northeastern area of Ovejuela, as reported by the Extremaduran Executive.
17 land units of the Infoex Plan, 6 agents of the natural environment and 5 technicians are already working in the area, while air resources will gradually be incorporated.
In addition, it has the support of the Government Brif, the Military Emergency Unit, the two Castillas, the provincial councils, Madrid, the Infoca of Andalusia and a hundred firefighters from Portugal.
The fire has already devastated more than 8,500 hectares, according to the first estimate of the Extremadura Forest Fire Fighting Plan.
This is an approximate figure, since within the perimeter there are numerous islands of vegetation that have not burned.
