Madrid (EFE).- Spanish merchandise exports increased by 14.6% in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2022, to total 102,683.9 million euros, and were driven by capital goods, automotive and chemical industry.
According to the trade balance data published this Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, imports also increased in the first quarter of the year, by 4%, to 109,262.2 million.
The trade deficit reached 6,578.3 million euros (15,416.5 million euros less than in the first quarter of 2022), while the coverage rate -the part of exports that can be covered with imports- stood at 94%, that is, 8.7 percentage points more.
