Las Palmas De Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Catalan actor Eduard Fernández has assessed this Thursday the advisability of accepting “some frustrations” to avoid mental health problems, such as those suffered by the female character that he will play this weekend in the Cuyás Theater in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

I’m not only short, but I’m bad at playing basketball”, the interpreter of Santiago Loza’s text “Todas las canciones de amor”, which he presented together with the Minister of Culture of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Guacimara Medina, added at a press conference. , and the artistic director of Cuyás, Gonzalo Ubani.
This poetic monologue, adapted by Fernández in some texts, brings to the stage other health problems such as Alzheimer’s, as the actor believes that “it is also very healing to share the pain” of a father or mother contracting this disease.
“That’s why I’m here, to talk, share, and surely heal,” Fernández expressed when asked if the character he plays can help raise awareness about this degenerative condition.
“Todas las canciones de amor”, directed by the winner of five Max Awards for Best Director, Andrés Lima, brings to the stage a mother who awaits the arrival of her son at home after a prolonged absence.
With this work, Fernández thus embarks on an “emotional journey between drama and comedy, life and death”, but also a personal journey that brings him closer to his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, and to whom he could not say goodbye after die from covid-19 during the pandemic.
The winner of three Goyas and the Silver Shell at the San Sebastián Film Festival has stated that it was precisely this misfortune that prompted him to play a mother who “talks to us from her kitchen”.
Fernández’s artistic team will end their tour in the capital of Gran Canaria.
