Barcelona (EFE) It is inadvisable to bet on the “right-wing populism” that Vox represents.
“Fighting left-wing populism with right-wing populism is bad business,” warned Sirera, who has participated in the cycle of press conferences for candidates for mayor of Barcelona organized by EFE on the occasion of the May 28 elections. .
According to Sirera, “Barcelona society needs to sew, dialogue, consensus, look forward”, and on the other hand, “it does not need an extreme right-wing force”, which is why it has been addressed to voters who may feel tempted to vote for Vox to warn them that the PP is “the force that will enter with more implantation” in the Barcelona City Council.
His “top priority is to throw Colau” out of the mayor’s office: “I am the only one who can guarantee that Colau leaves,” said Sirera, for whom neither the socialist Jaume Collboni nor the JxCat candidate Xavier Trias are “a guarantee of change” in Barcelona.
“We will do everything possible and impossible so that Colau stops being mayoress”, promised Sirera, who has called on possible voters of CS and Valents to concentrate the vote on the PP, that if she managed to gather all her potential electorate “could be second force” with “18%” of the votes.
Sirera to the independentistas: “They have to surrender”
On the other hand, the popular candidate has called on the independence movement to consider the process “finished” and “stop this nonsense”: “They have to surrender,” he affirmed.
This does not prevent Sirera from being open to “talking” with Collboni and also with Trias after the elections, although he has warned that he will not give up his votes for free.
“If someone wants me to give them their votes, talk to someone else,” stressed the mayor, who has distanced himself from Manuel Valls, who in 2019 gave his votes to Colau without compensation, to prevent Ernest Maragall from being chosen mayor.
Sirera has promised “not to make a Valls”, firstly because she plans to stay in the Barcelona City Council and secondly because she will never make Colau mayor, “neither by action nor by omission”.
