Kiev, May 13 (EFE).- Russia attacked Ukraine last midnight from the north and south with 21 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 drones, of which 17 were shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces, according to Kiev.
As reported by the Ukrainian air force, the drones were shot down with anti-aircraft missile weapons, fighters and mobile groups of fire.
In addition, an Orlán-10 tactical-operational unmanned aircraft was destroyed during the night.
“Unfortunately, there are enemy drone strikes on infrastructure in the Khmelniyski region. The local authorities and services are working to eliminate the consequences”, quotes “Ukrainska Pravda” to the Ukrainian air force.
The first deputy head of the Khmelnytsky regional military administration, Serhii Tiurin, specified on television that at least five people were injured by glass fragments after the Russian attack on an industrial facility, the Ukrinform agency reported.
there were no victims
“There was an attack against a critical infrastructure facility that is located outside of populated areas. During the attack there was no direct threat to residential and industrial buildings. However, the shock wave damaged windows and doors. There is information about five people injured by glass fragments, assistance is being provided to them, ”he said.
The military administration of the city of kyiv reported the downing of all the drones during a nighttime air strike, which did not cause any damage or casualties.
“The sixth air raid on the capital since the beginning of May! This time the enemy attacked using exclusively unmanned aerial vehicles,” said the head of kyiv’s military administration, Serhii Popko, in a Telegram message collected by “Ukrainska Pravda.”
During the latest air alert, which lasted 2.5 hours in Kiev, “all enemy drones heading for Kiev were successfully destroyed,” he noted, adding that “no damage or injuries were reported in the capital.”
Kharkiv pro-Russians call on residents to leave the area
The Russian-appointed Military-Civilian Administration of the Kharkiv Region has recommended the population in towns under its control to leave the area due to the increased activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Dear citizens, residents of the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region: Due to increased shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in order to avoid civilian casualties, the Military-Civilian Administration of the Kharkiv region recommends that you temporarily leave the territory of our region until favorable conditions for life are established,” says a statement released on Telegram.
The pro-Russian authorities say they will help those who agree to evacuate.
Earlier, the head of the local pro-Russian administration claimed that Russian forces control 29 towns in the north-east of the region, where about 3,000 people live.
Russian troops withdrew from much of the Kharkiv region, which borders Russia and Donbas, in autumn 2022 after a successful counter-offensive by Ukrainian forces.
Two weeks ago, the pro-Russians also announced an evacuation in 18 towns in the southern region of Zaporizhia, close to the front line amid reports that a new Ukrainian counterattack was soon to begin.
