The 58-year-old man, a native of Morocco, was arrested on May 3 for drug trafficking, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, the Civil Guard reported in a statement on Wednesday.
His arrest occurred after the special van for the detection of narcotic substances of Customs Surveillance, known as “Medusa”, detected a vehicle with a trailer, which aroused suspicion in the agents.
After all the merchandise and belongings it was transporting had been evicted, the specialized Civil Guard dog located a suitcase, where 32 acorns of hashish and two tablets of that substance were finally found, weighing close to 600 grams.
The service was carried out jointly by members of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Border Section of the Port of Santander and the Cynological Service of this Corps, as well as by the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency of the Basque Country and Cantabria.
