Liverpool (United Kingdom) (EFE).- Eurovision 2023 officially kicks off this Tuesday with the celebration in Liverpool (United Kingdom) of the first of its two semifinals, in an edition that for the first time will admit votes from non-participating countries, including those of Latin America.
It is part of the changes introduced this year in the scoring system, such as the fact that the classification for the final will only be borne by the televote, so that the opinion of the professional juries will only be taken into account if that fails.
Among those votes will also be for the first time those of countries that do not belong to Eurovision and will count in the end as a single country, “rest of the world”, to be added to those of the other countries in the contest.
For those who are encouraged to vote from Latin America or another part that does not participate in the festival, they will be able to select several songs at http://www.esc.vote and cast up to a maximum of 20 votes in favor of any individual song (each at a price of 0.99 cents and only for people over 18 years of age).
First semifinal with some of the favorites
This Tuesday’s semifinal will get off to a very strong start, since chance brought together many of the candidates to occupy the first places in the list of winners, especially the Swedish Loreen, a great favourite, who with “Tattoo” aspires to repeat the triumph of 2012 with “Euphoria” and becoming the first woman to win the festival twice.
If so, Sweden would also tie with Ireland as the Eurovision king with seven wins, but to do so they will have to beat other contenders in this semi-final, especially the fun Finnish artist Käärijä, who is second in the bookmakers with “Cha Cha Cha ”.
As a member of the “Big Five” along with France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany, Spain is directly classified for the final on May 13, which can be followed by La 1 on RTVE.
Its representative, Blanca Paloma, is another of the edition’s strong candidates thanks to an audacious proposal: a lullaby por bulerías mixed with electronic arrangements and Mediterranean songs entitled “EaEa”, an extract of which can be seen in the second semifinal of this Thursday, in which his compatriots will be able to vote now for their favorite proposals.
